Local business should use online business directory to promote their business

by IRFANin News / Business News    (submitted 2012-02-15)

If you get a chance to check any business promotion website these days, you would surely note that one of their tips would include listing in any good business directory. Many people ask this question that is directory better than giving ads in papers and on television. Well, you need to calculate the return on investment (ROI) in order to know the answer yourself.

Earlier, yellow pages were used to locate local businesses and service providers whenever needed. Now, most of the people use internet and they still use business directories but there is a difference as these directories are now online and you do not need to search through pages to find what you need. All you need to do now is to enter keywords and your desired item will be listed before you.

Major search engines have implemented search techniques which enables them to detect the IP of the users and locate the location and then present search results according to the location. This means if you are generating a query from London, the search engine will put in search results from London first.

Listing in any good business directory would mean that you are enhancing your digital foot print on the internet. If you plan to sell online, listing in directory is a must. It is also equally important for local businesses to get listed in local business directories.

This is an added advantage of a business directory because as a business owner, your search result will automatically be pushed whenever someone enters the keywords you have used to present your business.

Also, with a good directory, you will have added advantage of putting in details about your business, images and most importantly a link to your website. Such links are of great importance as they are like recommendations in the world of internet. Such back links will not only give you more visitors to your website but better search engine rankings and better credibility.

Over all, for any local business, if you want to be known in all your area without adding too much a marketing budget, you should for sure go for a good directory listing.

Carney Tells Reporters They Shouldn’t be so Greedy in Their Questioning

ou might have, and a number of others might have if those that did ask questions, in general, kept to one question," Carney quipped to the laughter of the offending journalists.

During the approximately 65 minute news conference Tuesday, eight of the 10 questions included follow-ups, and only one question could really be considered a single question.

Some follow-ups were more extreme than others.

Chuck Todd of NBC, asked a question on the Constitutionality of not just the War Powers Resolution, but also the debt ceiling and gay marriage. He could accurately be described as trying to get his money's worth, because statistically it contained the most follow-ups and Obama spent about nine minutes answering.

As the second question of the news conference, it could have set the tone.

"Chuck's not here to defend himself!" shouted Fox News' Mike Emanuel to a chorus of laughter.
