The other day, I was talking to a gentleman who was involved in politics, and also worked in race relations, how fitting it would be to listen to his wisdom only a few days before Dr. Martin Luther King's holiday. I was amazed to hear of his love of free-markets, small business, and his view that free-markets allow for freedom, diversity, and transcend race and gender issues. I agree, in fact, I believe that free-market capitalism solves more than just economic issues while it creates abundance for all. Okay so let's talk.
There was an interesting article recently in Government Executive News titled; "Obama proposes reorganizing trade agencies, giving SBA Cabinet status," by Tom Shoop and Charles S. Clark published on January 13, 2012 - and the article stated:
President Obama announced he is seeking authority from Congress to reorganize federal trade and business-related functions in the Commerce Department and other organizations, and elevate the Small Business Administration to Cabinet status. Obama said, "today, I'm outlining changes we could make if Congress gives the green light to allow us to modernize and streamline. These changes would help small business owners like all of you."
I think this is a good idea, as Small Business employs 75% + of our workforce, and it is the fastest way to full-employment and job recovery, thus, economic recovery too. And the SBA cabinet member needs to be someone who gets it, perhaps someone like Cain who recently ran in the GOP who has franchising experience, and let's dump his extra activities as not relevant to this job.
You know, I'd sure like to see someone like that as the head of the SBA, someone who really believes in free-market economics and not gimmicks, hand-outs, or politically correct modification of our local economies, where all the small business men and women entrepreneurs stake their claims.
Is President Obama merely playing to the 10% of Americans who own their own business in an election year? Well, sure, that's probably part of it right, I mean this is how Washington DC works, but just as I'd "never look a gift horse in the mouth" who would donate much needed funds to a local charity, I am not about to condemn a President for his motives if in fact the end result will be good for American jobs, and our economy, as right now, we could use all the help we can get out here in the real world.
So, I ask that you please consider all this and think on it - deal? Let's bury the political hatchet this once and agree on this SBA cabinet seat.
